Ask The Game:Fallen Earth Q&A Responses

fallenearth3Hungart: Do you have any details on whether there will be a new expansion coming out for Fallen Earth in 2010/11?

MARIE: We just released the Fallen Earth Blood Sports patch, which in addition to the Blood Sports matches had a major effects revamp and five levels of new content. This month we’ve also released Achievements, Limited Fast Travel, an additional Blood Sports map, the serendipity loot system, and a weather system, which is a lot of content, all things considered.

The short answer to your question is – there will be new content coming, yes!

Robert: Is it possible to add a salvaging queue, similar to the crafting queue. It would be nice to be able to queue up a few items to break down instead of having to sit and be idol just because I am not near farming nodes of items I need.

MARIE: This might be kind of interesting— I’ll ask the programmers.

fallenearth2Steve: I’m curious to hear about what you’re going to do about the future of faction?? Are you going to make it a more faction based game or a clan based game? How is your PvE going to workout later on.. raids, or is there no PvE?? Also, considering PvP, is it going to be more like Office Park in the Future, or was that not intended at all?

MARIE: Faction is one of those things that didn’t work out quite how we intended. We are currently working on ways to improve faction and make it meaningful without punishing players for using the system we implemented.

BobbyB: What element of the game was your favourite part to work on? Also, how often do you get a chance to jump into the game and experience things for yourself, or do you have to rely on player feedback to find out how things are going?

MARIE: I really enjoyed fixing the conflict towns, probably ‘cause I broke them in the first place. It was a really good opportunity to learn as a designer and modify the system to fit the needs of the community.

We’re actually in the game quite a bit. It’s pretty important to run around and experience the game as it was designed with other players.

Justin Time: As the game progresses will you be making it easier for new players to catch up levelling wise?

fallenearth13MARIE: We never really wanted the game to start at the end cap, for us and for our mechanics, the journey was always more important than the destination. We may tweak numbers here and there, but not in a “catch up” sort of way.

Beiber Sucks: Have the recent layoffs of all those staff members slowed up work on the future expansions & content?

MARIE: It’s more of a challenge, but we feel okay with where we are. On one hand we all have to be very driven and very focused all the time, but we do get to work on only the most important things. We’ve gotten two significant patches out the door with the team we have now, so I’m very excited about what we can accomplish.
