Unfortunately the answer to that question came all too soon.
Right around the corner from the first guard there turned out to be a fairly substantial camp of Murlocs, with what looked like a corpse in the middle of it. Problem solved.
Once those situations had been successfully handled, I decided to head back to town. While I am here I decide that it is probably a good idea to pick up a few of the secondary professions. So while I’m at the inn I head upstairs and talk to the First Aid trainer.
She teaches me to create bandages, which considering how low my health is going to be on this challenge is probably a skill I’m going to be needing. I also decided that it might be a wise move to pick up cooking. The ‘well fed’ buffs some of the items that profession can create as it is being levelled are going to be useful along the line.
After learning these and doing a bit of work on them with the stuff I had to hand in my inventory, I decide that its time for a bit of exploration. As I had a quest to deliver a package to Loch Modan, I thought I would try and deal with that.
Now, again for those who are not residents of Azeroth, Loch Modan & Elwynn Forest are…. well lets be honest, absolutely bloody miles apart. Thankfully though there are flight-paths, quick travel options, between various locations in the game.
Unfortunately you have to have visited the flight-paths before you can fly in to them and as I have never been to Loch Modan that rules that out as an option.
Now with no intention of running, its then that I remember the most underutilised transport system in the game – The Deeprun Tram!
I think in all the years I have played this game, I have probably used this tram no more than 15 times. The tram was created by the gnomes to link the cities of Ironforge & Stormwind and is absolutely stunning to look at. The picture here is of the entrance at the Stormwind end.
Inside looks incredible as well with the tram actually being two sets of hanging baskets on rails. I jump the next run that hits the platform and enjoy the trip to Ironforge. As always I make sure to wave at Nessie in the underground fish tank that is part of the trams route.
When I get to Ironforge, I head straight to the flight master and pick up the flight path for later use. On the way to him though I realise that the tram is actually slightly faster than flying between those cities – I shall have to use it more.
With that done I head out the doors of Ironforge and promptly remeber how long I still have to travel to get to Loch Modan…you know what, the package can wait.
