Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Blizzard’s hotly anticipated sequal to the classic RTS, has taken the number one spot in the UK videogames chart, selling a massive 1.5million units in its first 48 hours.
Released worldwide simultaneously, Starcraft II has managed to sell more than its predecessor did in its lifetime.
Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment said: “We launched StarCraft II in 11 different languages and on 5 different continents because we wanted to make sure as many players as possible were able to log on and play on day one.”
The new game beat other triple-A titles like Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption and Disney’s Toy Story 3 in the chart compiled by Chart Track.
