Sing Your Way to Stardom on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi with Just SING! justsing_screenshot2

We can’t decide if this an absolutely genius idea, or one that you’d vote straight out of Dragons Den. There’s a gap in the market for sure, but maybe it’s there for a reason.
Can you imagine screaming Lady Gaga out while you’re on the bus? Or maybe jamming to Maroon 5 in your caravan? Wondering what we’re on about?

PQube has today announced that Just SING!, the first karaoke game to be released on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi, will launch on 3rd December 2010 and will be available from all major retailers with an RRP of £29.99.

Published by dtp young entertainment and developed by Engine Software, Just SING! boasts 18 original songs from chart topping artists includingLady Gaga, Nelly Furtado, Timbaland featuring OneRepublic and many more. In Just SING! players take their first steps towards musical stardom in the single player career mode story. Players start with nothing and must improve their performances in order to progress from playing small town bars through medium clubs to, ultimately, performing on some of the biggest stages in the world.

From Bedrooms to Billions

bedrmillionspicnew-revised A scientific curiosity that sparked a revolution

We just received this press release and thought it sounded awesome. A new documentary movie about the birth of the video games industry announced!

Filmmakers Anthony Caulfield & Nicola Caulfield have announced they have begun production on a documentary feature film titled “From Bedrooms to Billions”, which looks at the early pioneering years of the video game industry.

The film, which is slated to have an Autumn 2011 release is the first to attempt to bring this fascinating story together and will feature interviews with virtually every main player in video game development, publishing and journalism over the last 40 years.

Producer, Anthony Caulfield said “From Bedrooms to Billions will tell the remarkable and true story of how the creativity and vision of only a small number of individuals from around the world pioneered in shaping the video games industry, which today is a billion dollar business. What’s so fascinating is how what was originally nothing more than a scientific curiosity snowballed into the industry we have today. As we started putting this film together we uncovered so many incredible stories, these people had to literally make up an industry as they went, some were very successful, but others were not so, however collectively we felt it a strong story that’s long overdue and should make a wonderful movie” (more…)

New playable class kicking its way into Conquer Online

Friday, November 19th, 2010

800-600-2 TQ Digital, the renowned Chinese-based online games publisher, are excited to announce the international debut of highly anticipated Kung-fu Monk class to its leading free2play MMORPG, Conquer Online.

After several months of waiting, Conquer Online’s new class, the Monk, is finally ready for its international debut! The highly anticipated Kung-fu Monk will be unveiled ahead of the Christmas season on December 16.

Originating from the legends of ancient China, the concept of the Kungfu Monk was first inspired by the legendary Shaolin Monastery, which has always been considered a sacred and powerful order in the oriental world. The high priests of the Shaolin temple researched and devised many unique and powerful martial arts styles, which include boxing, pole arts, spear arts, sword arts, and so on. These “fathers of Kung-fu” were trained in the various styles of martial arts, and deemed as protectors of holiness and the ways of Shaolin.

Review – Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

Monday, November 15th, 2010

269 Even for a die-hard Sonic fanboy such as myself, there have been some dark times in the franchises recent years.

From giving the primary characters weapons such as swords and guns to turning Sonic into a “werehog”. All of these titles have had on thing in common, they all looked to have so much potential and then upon release proved disappointing.

So it was with no small amount of trepidation that when Sonic team announced Sonic 4 and a return to 2D,I allowed myself to get caught up in the buildup again. Now that it has been released I get to ask the questions – Will this be one more title that promises so much and fails to deliver? OR Will this be the title that brings Sonic spin-dashing back into greatness?

When you first fire up the game you are instantly granted your first dose of nostalgia, with Sonic proudly popping though the logo and waving his finger at you, which when you start a new game takes you straight into the first zone.

However the moment you finish that first zone you are given a reminder that this is a modern game, and (unless you also get to do the chaos emerald/Special stage) brought out into a world map when you can choose which zone & stage you want to play.
