T1’s first edition of 2011 is hot off the digital press, guiding you through the year ahead with previews, first-looks, round ups, and more “happy new year” cliches than you can shake a stick at!
Didn’t get enough from Santa? Or maybe you did but are just feeling greedy?
Either way, head over to the latest issue of Thirteen1 and you’ll see they’ve teamed up with top browser-based MMORTS, Zorg Empire, to give you the opportunity to win an Android Tablet PC ePad! A perfect post-Christmas present if ever there was one.
This month sees Thirteen1 go DC Universe Online crazy, thanks to SOE letting them run free on the PS3 beta over the festive period. See what T1’s infamous DrunkenGamer, a self-proclaimed MMO and comic book aficionado, thinks to one of his most anticipated online gaming releases, ever.
With plenty of time to enjoy and catch up on gaming over Christmas, the DrunkenGamer has put together a special MMO Round Up for 2011, just to make sure you don’t miss the year’s key releases. He’s nice like that.
He covers everything from Rift and The Secret World, to Mythos and Faxion in his quest to make sure you spend the next 12 months gaming online alongside him. (more…)
As the Lich King falls, the very ground itself heaves. But it is not the fall of one titan that causes the upheaval – instead it is the reawakening of an infinitely more powerful and dangerous enemy…
Once charged by the titans to be the Dragon Aspect of Earth, the Black Dragonflight was lead by Neltharion, the Earth-Warder. However now, tormented by the whisperings of the old gods, he goes by another name, DeathWing the Destroyer, Aspect of Death.
Deep within the Elemental Realm of Deepholm he has resided, recovering from the beating he took at the hands of the other Dragon Aspects.
While regaining his strength, the old gods that sent him mad in the first place have also been growing in strength, using it to further influence Deathwing and increase his power ten-fold. Seeing that the time was right, he has decided it is time to purge the world and reform it in molten fire.
His return from the Elemental Realm was a brutal one, literally erupting into our realm with such ferocity that he has torn a permanent rift between the two.
I’m going to start this review with a quote from the end of my Sonic Unleashed review, which I wrote all the way back in January 2009.
“Now..Sega..listen to me and listen good! Give me a game full of daytime stages, with more responsive controls, and I’m sure I’ll see Sonic as back to his prime. The dynamic flowing between 2-3D was extremely well executed.”
It looks like someone in the Sonic team read my review, or was at least thinking along the same lines..I’m going to assume the first..as they have gone ahead and created Sonic Colours with that exact blueprint in mind!
It’s safe to say that developer CyberStep has been pretty busy recently. Their fast-paced manga brawler, GetAmped2, which I took a look at last issue, has just landed itself in open beta.
With their other MMO title, CosmicBreak, set to go into its final beta as well, CyberStep are sure going to have their work cut out in the coming months.
Being the gaming adventurers that we are at Thirteen1, we’ve managed to get our hands on CosmicBreak to bring you our pre-launch thoughts on this new sci-fi shooter MMO.
When MMOs are reported in popular media the majority of the stories seem to involve husbands leaving their wives for their in-game romances, or some thirteen year-old who played for three-days straight and died of exhaustion. Ben Gonyo’s self-funded independent documentary Gamers has, at one point, a ‘coffee shop philosopher’ waxing lyrical about how kids’ minds are being turned to putty from these evil online games.
Conversely, it also features a blue lady riding a giant turtle surrounded by a bunch of incredibly social people at Blizzcon. Clearly this exploration of the MMO gaming genre is a light-hearted effort, yet don’t for one second think that it’s not a powerful piece of film. What Gonyo has lovingly crafted is a well-informed and thought-provoking documentary that isn’t out to preach one side or the other.
