cronacorp-medium-armor-concept Brain Candy, an independent French developer, in conjunction with GameTrailers.com, today released the debut teaser film for their new sci-fi strategy title Fray, coming to PC in 2011.

The film is directed by and stars the game’s technical director Robert Falce. Over 8 months in the making on a shoestring budget, the short film depicts the game’s dystopian setting and gives viewers the very first look at one of the most promising independent game productions of 2011.

View the film now on GameTrailers.

Fray is a simultaneous turn-based strategy game that eliminates the waiting involved with most turn-based games by introducing simultaneous play.
Fray is a gritty sci-fi game set in 2098, a world where civil society is on the brink of collapse. Three mega-corporations vie for control of the Earth and its remaining resources. In a world where most human interaction is confined to cyberspace, mankind has created a variety of virtual reality modules in which to escape the harsh realities of life and experience the full range of human emotions once known by generations past. Some modules are created for human enjoyment while others have been created to serve more devious purposes. One of the most pivotal virtual environments is the combat module, Fray.

EA offers Mirror’s Edge Hope

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

184_24047_mirrorsedge_l Insists IP remains “an important franchise” for the publisher, though it has “nothing to announce” concerning possible sequel

Following claims earlier in the week that we’d seen the last of the Mirror’s Edge series, publisher EA has seemingly offered some hope to fans of the game.
On Monday it was reported that DICE boss Patrick Sodurland had claimed sales of Mirror’s Edge “were not as good as expected” and that work on the sequel had “stalled”.
However, in a statement released to 1UP an EA rep claimed that “Mirror’s Edge is an important franchise” to the publisher, though it had “nothing further to announce” about news of a possible sequel for the time being.
DICE is, for the time being it said, concentrating its effort on Battlefield 3.

In an interview translated from Swedish games site Vicachu, DICE boss Patrick Soderlund previously stated that sales of the first game “were not as good as expected”.
Furthermore, development on a sequel had actually started, with a prototype having been shown off behind closed doors.
Soderlund added that the IP is “close to his heart” but that his love for it does not in itself warrant the development of a game that, in his words, would be for the sake of “charity”.

The February issue of online-based games magazine Thirteen1 is available now, giving you all the gaming goodness of a proper mag without the pesky hassle of having to go out to the shops and spend money on one.

This month’s T1 is rammed with up-to-date gaming content, from reviews of new zombie RTS Trapped Dead and the deliciously evil Dungeons, to looks at upcoming conferences, tours of the latest MMO’s, interviews with gaming soundtrack composers, and much, much more!

The undead are making a welcome return to gaming this month, thanks to Iceberg Interactive and HeadUp Games releasing Trapped Dead, their highly anticipated strategy-based twist on the brain-munching genre. It’s about time zombies changed their image, so be sure to check out the pre-release review in the latest issue of T1 to see what it’s all about.

Prefer to take a walk on the evil side instead of always playing the goody two-shoes? Well, with a review of Kalypso’s latest offering, Dungeons – where you get to play as a dungeon master who lures heroes into his domain; as well as the DrunkenGamer’s massive tour and Q&A of Faxion Online – a game that lets you pick sides in the battle between heaven and hell; this months T1 has got you well and truly covered.

Speaking of the DrunkenGamer, when T1’s resident Guinness drinker wasn’t ripping the wings off angels in Faxion (he chose evil, of course..), he was immersing himself in some scary-as-hell Dead Space 2 action, inventing new drinking games for you to try with your mates, and keeping himself busy with his job as lead developer of gangster MMO, Omerta.
