Xbox Live Attacked, Not Hacked

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

xbox360logo Major complaints have come up recently regarding the Xbox Live service, thanks in part to a rather aggressive phishing scam that has been hitting users.

Those responsible for the scamming are posing as employees of Xbox Live, and are working to illegally obtain personal information such as user names and passwords. (more…)

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

scee Sony has hinted that it intends to ensure that the next Xbox does not enjoy the same headstart in the market that the Xbox 360 had over the PS3.

And with Xbox 360 being heavily rumoured for either next year or 2013, that means the PS4 is likely far closer than we think.

And of course, Nintendo’s next new machine will be with us next year – though whether Sony considers that to be a true competitor is unclear.

“I think we would consider it undesirable to be significantly later than the competition [with the next PlayStation],” European PlayStation boss Jim Ryan told Eurogamer.

However, keen to stick up for its current machine Ryan added: “There’s still a lot of unfinished business on PS3.” (more…)

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

diablo-3-announcement1 It has been an on-again, off-again relationship for Blizzard and consoles over the past couple decades. With offerings on the N64 in StarCraft 64 and Warcraft II on the Saturn and PlayStation, Blizzard is once again working on a possible offering for the current generation with Diablo III.

As of right now, the highly anticipated game is definitely coming out for PC, but the developer maintains that they are hard at work on coming up with something specifically designed for consoles, not some shoddy port.

“There’s a key difference,” said Blizzard lead designer Jay Wilson to Game Informer. “Certainly, a lot of things get brought over, but a port is trying to take a PC game and graft it onto a console. Our goal is to make a game that feels like it’s natively made for a console. If we make it, we want it to feel like a Blizzard game and that we built it for that platform from the ground up.”
