Dear Esther studio developing PC first person survival horror sequel
thechineseroom has confirmed it’s working on a sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent called Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
Frictional Games, the creator of the original, will be producing the game. Although it didn’t nail down a specific release date, it did say the goal is to get it out on PC before Halloween.
Speaking to Joystiq, thechineseroom’s Dan Pinchbeck said the title “is not a direct sequel” in that it “doesn’t follow on from the story of Amnesia” or “involve the same characters.”
According to Pinchbeck, A Machine for Pigs follows Oswald Mandus, a “wealthy industrialist” who returns from a failed expedition to Mexico. Mandus is haunted by dreams of a dark machine and awakes months later to find the machine “sputter to life.”
A teaser site for the game appeared earlier this month. If you want a taste of what thechineseroom can do, have a look at its recently released narrative-driven adventure title Dear Esther.
