They have said E3 will be all about the games. Tuesday’s event was to introduce the consoles other facets.

Microsoft has finally announced the next generation of the Xbox – Xbox One.
Sony announced the PlayStation 4 back on February 20. This means we now have some specs to compare, so it only makes sense to take a look at the hardware of both next-gen consoles and see which, if any, shows early signs of “winning” at this stage of the console war.
Lets begin with the CPU’s. Both consoles are going to be using a 8-core x86 AMD. Sony are using a Single-chip custom x86 AMD “Jaguar” processor, while Microsoft are going their own 8 Core CPU custom processor. In laymen terms, it looks pretty even on the CPU front.
So lets look at the graphics processors. Microsoft revealed they are going to be using a DirectX 11.1 graphics chip with 32 MB embedded memory, while Sony is going for a more powerful 1.84 TFlops, AMD Radeon Graphics Core. Microsoft has also come out and admitted they are not targeting high-end graphics, and are instead targeting focusing more on a broad entertainment play. Whether this is a good idea we will have to wait and see.
