No doubt the the title will cause controversy, but it has to be said. Digital distribution is a great thing, but when retail stores (the latest being HMV) jump on the band wagon, we're just going to end up with a complete mess of an industry.

HMV have jumped on the digital distribution bandwagon vowing to offer their own in-house digital distribution. This is a retail store embracing technology, something which I applaud them for, but I can't help but feel a little cynical about the way they're going about it.

I don't understand why some people hate Steam, it's awesome! Annoying that some games don't work in offline mode though :(

I thought you could play all of the games offline? But then I just tried Portal offline… and you can't. A single player game you can't play offline. Fail.

I love Steam aswell and like you have an ever growing collection… I wouldn't even consider using another companies online download system though (apart from Blizzard ofc). Mainly due to possible lack of support. I've almost forgotten the days of having to manually patch games, and i'd like to keep it that way!
