CoD MW3 – New Gameplay Trailer Released

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

cod-mw3-teaser-logo-530w-1305746630 After the huge data leak last week, Activision’s marketing strategy had been flipped upside down.

This really messed up their timings for when assets were to get released, but in actual fact instead of ruining the start of the marketing push for the game, it actually may have helped them in the long-run, by harnessing the initial hype already generated they pushed out four mini-trailers for fans to sink their teeth into.

“We woke up with a marketing crisis and wanted to go to bed with a marketing win,” Hirshberg explained of the final decision.

Modern Warfare 3 – Information Leaked

Monday, May 16th, 2011

modern-warfare-3-cover-art-revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, tons of information leaked and trailers released.

So, Modern Warfare 3 then…there’s been a fair bit of hype around the latest Call of Duty title, but all I can think is that Activision’s strategy to (presumably) make as much money as possible from the franchise by releasing a new game every year is going to eventually kill the series, much like the recent demise of Guitar Hero (or at least it’s hiatus).

By pushing for a new release every year, this really makes me wonder whether the quality of gameplay will be compromised. We all know Modern Warfare 2 was filled with glitches/hacked accounts and whatever other nonsense you can think of. So will we see better security and support with the latest title?

Black Ops Escalation Hits Xbox Live

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

escalation It’s that time again, grab your wallets and rummage around for whatever coin you have to purchase your 1200 MS points and grab the new Call of Duty map pack.

For the die-hard Call of Duty followers you may have already stockpiled some 1200 MS points cards, that way you’re prepared for future map-pack releases, but nevertheless, escalation is now released on Xbox Live.

You’ll be pleased to know that the map pack contains 4 brand new online multiplayer maps — Hotel, Stockpile, Zoo and Convoy.

That’s all good and well, but I think the thing everyone is most looking forward to is the new zombie level, appropriately named ‘Call of the Dead’.

This zombie level will star the likenesses of some recognisable names – Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Robert England (Nightmare on Elm Street), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Danny Trejo (Machete).

There really is little reason to be down with all of this finger-bashing fun to be had.

The much anticipated Crackdown 2 has finally jumped onto the scene, and right onto the front cover of Thirteen1, probably leaping over a massive skyscraper while firing a rocket launcher in mid-air to get there. Does it live up to expectations? Check out T1’s extensive review of all things super-powered to find out.

EA have fittingly released FIFA Online just in time for everyone to right their personal international wrongs, so T1 has jumped straight in there to cover it with a beta hands-on. Will it prove as popular as it’s console counterpart?

The DrunkenGamer has had a great time flying around Cataclysm, the latest mind-blowing expansion for Blizzard’s World of WarCraft, and wishes you was there so much that he’s put together a brand new feature, Wish You Were Here, showing you all of the best areas before it’s released.
