Dust Off Your Spellbooks – Upcoming Magicka PvP Mode

magicka-2011-05-12-15-14-56-38 The mages at Paradox Interactive and Arrowhead Studios have unveiled a new developer diary and screens that give insight into the creation of the upcoming free update introducing an all new Player vs Player game mode in Magicka.

The developer diaries will be released on a weekly basis, so attention all trigger-happy wizards: the time to finally put your wizardly training to test is close at hand. And by “training” though, we really just mean purposely blowing up your friends.

Oh wait, you were doing that already? Well, soon you’ll be able to “officially” duel your companions. Put on your robe, grab your sword and staff, and bring your game face because we will be seeing you in the arena very soon. Please note that you’ll be the ones in the actual arena, we’ll be outside of it like a bunch of pansy aristocrats.

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if wizards were allowed to roam the jungles of war-torn Vietnam, attempting to bring peace and stability to the region by casting spells on all opponents?

Magicka: Vietnam features a lengthy challenge scenario that puts you in the combat boots and stylish robe of a Wizard GI. Venture deep into the Goblin-Cong jungle with up to three fellow soldiers in a heroic attempt to liberate prisoners from a POW camp and face off against deadly Vietnam themed enemies. Destroy enemy positions, escape the perils of the jungle and return safely to the evacuation helicopter (“Get to the chopper!!”).

Review – Magicka

magicka If you like your games a bit different, a bit bloody, very funny and with lots of ways of killing waves and waves of enemies….Magicka is for you.

Magicka is a satirical action-adventure game set in a fantasy world based around Norse mythology. You take on the role of a wizard, who has set out on an adventure to stop an evil sorcerer and the hordes of minions/creatures he has at his disposal.

Magicka’s core gameplay comes in the form of – surprise surprise – the spells you cast. There are 8 different elements you can combine to create your spell, selected by eight different keys; Q,W,E,R,A,S,D, and F; with right-click used to cast.
