Xbox 720 Rumoured to be Tablet Based

xbox360logo Xbox 720, or whatever the 360’s successor is called, could feature a strong tablet component, according to a new report.

In a feature looking ahead to 2012, GameSpot writes:

“There are strong signs suggesting that, like with Nintendo’s Wii U, a tablet component figures heavily into the new design. That saucy Windows 8 Metro interface (now also seen on the Xbox Dashboard) just begs to be touched.”

“Speculation as to the form it will take has been rife for the past few months, with some even suggesting that the core of the new platform will be akin to a tablet PC that wirelessly connects to a base station, which in turn plugs into your TV.” (more…)

Anarchy Reigns release date confirmed!

98e704235997e67d2b5068f22c54103a Sega has confirmed a July 6th release date for Xbox 360 and PS3 brawler Anarchy Reigns in Europe.

It will be released in the US on July 3rd and in Australia on July 5th.

The game is developed by Platinum Games, creators of Vanquish and Bayonetta, as well as Konami’s upcoming Metal Gear Rising.

“Anarchy Reigns brings a new take to the brawler genre and we’ve decided to take a little more time to deliver the full knockout punch,” Sega West’s VP of marketing Gary Knight stated.

“I can’t reveal much now, but it’s something to do with scale. Let’s just say traditional one on one or two versus two fighters will be a thing of the past.”

Xbox 360 dashboard update out today

xbox-360 Microsoft is to release the new Xbox 360 dashboard update today, introducing a range of new features which should effectively transform you console into a proper media hub over the coming months.

Free for all Xbox 360 owners, the update will introduce:

  • New personal and social features including Cloud Storage for Game Saves and Live Profile
  • Beacons and Facebook Sharing

New PES 2012 update detailed

European PES team leader Jon Murphy said the update will address fan feedback by solving some situations where the game was hanging or freezing, and by introducing certain improvements to the performance of goalkeepers, specifically their ability to stop balls from long-distance shots. (more…)

xbox-360 Microsoft has announced a number of Black Friday Xbox Live deals, which are only available today.

Kicking off the Christmas shopping season on the digital marketplace, there’s 25 percent of Fallout 3 on Games on Demand, meaning you can pick it up for just £14.99.

Meanwhile, XBLA titles Full House Poker and Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team are going for half price at 400 MS Points (£3.43) apiece, while there’s 73 percent off the usual price of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which you can pick up for 320 MS Points (£2.74). (more…)

PS4 Launch to Match Xbox720?

scee Sony has hinted that it intends to ensure that the next Xbox does not enjoy the same headstart in the market that the Xbox 360 had over the PS3.

And with Xbox 360 being heavily rumoured for either next year or 2013, that means the PS4 is likely far closer than we think.

And of course, Nintendo’s next new machine will be with us next year – though whether Sony considers that to be a true competitor is unclear.

“I think we would consider it undesirable to be significantly later than the competition [with the next PlayStation],” European PlayStation boss Jim Ryan told Eurogamer.

However, keen to stick up for its current machine Ryan added: “There’s still a lot of unfinished business on PS3.” (more…)

Xbox LIVE Update Brings New Entertainment Experience to Console Owners

xbox-360 On 6th December, a brand new entertainment experience will debut on Xbox 360 through a significant Xbox LIVE service update, free to all console owners.

The update will bring a newly designed user interface (dashboard), expanded voice control with Kinect, and the first group of new entertainment custom applications.

Rage requires an 8GB PS3 Install, Uses 3 Discs on X-Box 360

images You ready to play id Software’s latest and greatest shooter, Rage?  Well hold on there, because the game won’t be playable when you pull it out of the shrinkwrap on the PlayStation 3 version.

id Software creative director Tim Willits confirmed to Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry that the PS3 version has a mandatory 8 GB install.

Dark Souls Release Date Confirmed

dark-souls-logo Video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today announced that Dark Souls has been approved for production for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, releasing in North America on October 4 2011, and Europe on October 7.

Spiritual successor to 2009’s  critically acclaimed PlayStation3 system exclusive Demon’s Souls – winner of GameSpot’s “Overall Game of the Year” and “Best PS3 Game”, and IGN’s “Best RPG for PS3” awards – Dark Souls is a new action-role playing game (RPG) developed by FromSoftware.
