Alan Wake PC Recoups Costs in Just 2 Days

screenlg8 Remedy managed to recoup its development and marketing costs for the PC version of Alan Wake within the game’s first two days on sale.

That’s according to executive vice president Aki Järvilehto, who wrote on the game’s official forums: “We are very happy with the sales and hitting #1 on Steam at launch was nothing short of amazing.”

“We recouped our development and marketing expenses during the first 48 hours. And yes, we’re certainly very excited about PC.” (more…)

New Xbox To Be 6x As Powerful As 360

xbox360logo The next Xbox will ship to retailers in late October or early November of next year with six times the processing power of the Xbox 360, sources close to the project have told IGN.

Following initial reports from tech blogs Fudzilla and SemiAccurate, our sources have confirmed that mass production of the system’s GPU will indeed begin by the end of 2012 but will not, however, be based on AMD’s 7000 series Southern Islands GPU.

Instead, the processor will be derived from the 6000 series, which was introduced last year. More specifically, it will be akin to the Radeon HD 6670, which offers support for DirectX11, multidisplay output, 3D and 1080p HD output. The chip currently has a market price of upwards of $79.99. Resident Evil 6 Revealed – Trailer

screenshot_276120_thumb_wide300 Finally, Capcom has announced Resident Evil 6 and released the first trailer which you can watch below.

The game is billed as a “dramatic horror”, with single and co-op multiplayer gameplay, and will be out on PS3 and 360 worldwide on November 20, 2012 with a PC version “to follow”.

“Blending action and survival horror, this latest instalment in the multi-million selling franchise is the most ambitious, immersive and feature rich title of the series to date and promises to be the dramatic horror experience of the year,”

Angry Birds Smashes onto Consoles

angrybirdsmain2 Boxed Angry Birds console games are landing at retail next year accompanied by a line of official accessories.

The titles are due on Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo 3DS and could be here as soon as February.

Impact Global Solutions has acquired the rights to produce and distribute over ten peripherals for the game, including branded 3DS car chargers, ear buds and cases, as well as headsets for 360 and PS3.

There will also be an Angry Birds controller and HDMI cable available. (more…)

xbox360logo More rumours. More rumours about the successor to the Xbox 360. And this time, 2012 is being pegged as the likely release date.

“An Edge source” reckons that Ubisoft Montreal is currently working with “target boxes” – PC kits thrown together in a way as to best resemble the planned architecture of the new console.

Several other developers, including certain EA studios, are said to be working off similar kits.

It adds that developer of the first generation of genuine dev kits running on custom hardware is due to roll out before the end of the year.

The conclusion? That a new Xbox will be with us by Q4 2012. (more…)
