Hungry zombies, hot cheerleaders and chainsaw-based combat are all very compelling on their own, but when all those elements come together in Lollipop Chainsaw, the combination is irresistible! A game this twisted could not have happened without the vivid and imaginative minds of Suda51 (No More Heroes; Shadows of the Damned) and writer James Gunn (Dawn of the Dead; Slither; Super). Give your readers an inside look at the thought process of this outrageously creative team in a new behind the scenes trailer. (more…)

Sega has cancelled development on Bayonetta 2, according to a new report.
A source told Spong that Sega halted development on the Platinum-created sequel following an internal restructure.
Apparently the game included a new character, someone who was a member of the US military.
Last month Sega announced a number of games had been cancelled, but didn’t specify which ones. Was Bayonetta 2, which has never been announced, one of them? Sega declined to comment on the story.

User-generated content has been a staple part of many games longevity.
Little Big Planet, and it’s sequel, relied heavily upon it to extend its world, Infamous 2 used it to extend the game after completion, and Ridge Racer Unbounded used it to never stop the fun; now Valve – essentially the kings of UGC with their Source SDK and many, many mods – have announced a brand new piece of DLC for Portal 2 that brings UGC to the title.
The free DLC, entitled “Perpetual Testing Initiative” allows you to easily create and share puzzles for Portal 2. It comes with a simple puzzle maker that allows you to create “mind-bending” puzzles from the comfort of the game itself. (more…)

Kadokawa Games has released three new gameplay videos from Lollipop Chainsaw, showing of its leading lady slicing and dicing the walking dead.
When first discussing Lollipop Chainsaw designer Goichi Suda said “it’s really a new era for zombie games – a piece of ‘pop’ zombie entertainment.”
He also teased that “part of the gameplay might involve sound as well,” but unfortunately these videos stick to the third-person action basics, not that we’re complaining.

Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed that his games will never offer paid-for character downloads, telling us fighting game characters are “like chess pieces” that are “essential [to] the game.”
Speaking in the wake of the controversy surrounding Street Fighter X Tekken, which features a dozen DLC characters whose data is already present on the game disc, Harada stated that Namco would not follow a similar route with its own fighting game franchise.
“Tekken has never had DLC before and charged for it,” he told us during Namco Bandai’s Global Gamer Day event in Las Vegas last week. “This isn’t really directed at Capcom, I have always said this, but I see the characters and their move sets as chess pieces – they are essential items necessary in the game and we would never sell any of those individually.”
Harada was keen not to be seen as a critic of Capcom’s strategy, which has led to a storm of protests from fighting game fans. “It’s Capcom’s business decision, obviously,” he said, “but I expect the reason they did that was, if one player bought a character that another player didn’t have, they would not be able to play against each other online”.
