Launch Date For Dishonored

dishonored-logo Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, today announced that Dishonored, the supernatural assassin action game under development at Arkane Studios, will be available in North America on October 9, in Australia on October 11 and throughout Europe on October 12, 2012.

Developed under the direction of co-creative directors Raphael Colantonio and Harvey Smith, Dishonored is slated for release on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows.

Dishonored is set in Dunwall, an industrial whaling city where steampunk- inspired technology and otherworldly forces coexist in the shadows. You are Corvo, the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress who has been murdered. (more…)

Bethesda Softworks Announces: The Elder Scrolls Online

elder_scrolls_v_skyrim_logo Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, today announced The Elder Scrolls® Online, an MMO in development at ZeniMax Online Studios. The Elder Scrolls Online will be the first Elder Scrolls game to allow gamers to explore the legendary Elder Scrolls world with others.

The Elder Scrolls Online is being developed for PC and Mac under the leadership of industry veteran Matt Firor, who has spent the last two decades working in online game development. Details about the game are revealed in an exclusive cover story in Game Informer’s June issue, which ships to subscribers and newsstands this month.

Elder Scrolls MMOG to be Unveiled in May

Speaking to Tom’s Guide, industry sources wishing to remain anonymous said The Elder Scrolls Online will fit into the “Second Era” of the Elder Scrolls timeline, taking place several hundred years before any other games in the series and a full millennium before the events of Skyrim. (more…)

Fallout MMO Rights Restored To Bethesda Softworks In Interplay Litigation

ZeniMax Media Inc. today announced that a settlement had been reached in the lawsuit filed by its subsidiary, Bethesda Softworks, against Interplay Entertainment Corporation in 2009.

Bethesda Softworks LLC v Interplay Entertainment Corp., seeking cancellation of the license granted to Interplay to develop a massively multiplayer online game (MMO) based on the Fallout brand. Bethesda maintained in its complaint that Interplay had failed to meet the conditions for the license and the license was therefore of no continuing validity. (more…)

Doom 4 and Gloom? – Update

doom Three years after it was first announced a dark cloud now hangs over id’s long-awaited Doom 4.

Kotaku claims to have word from a source close to publisher Bethesda that parent company Zenimax has decided to “indefinitely postpone” development of the game.

The decision is said to stem from concerns at both Zenimax and Bethesda about the mixed reviews of recent release Rage, as well as the technical problems that muddied the launch.

These factors have culminated in “a serious lack of confidence in the project management at id,” the site claims. (more…)

Novel Based On Highly-Anticipated Rage Video Game Announced

rage__1_comic_book_cover Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, and Del Rey, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, announced today that Del Rey Books will publish a novel based on the upcoming RAGE video game.

The novel, also entitled “RAGE”, will be written by author and game writer Matt Costello and will release on August 30, 2011. The novel will be published simultaneously in the UK and British Commonwealth by Ebury Publishing, part of the Random House Group.

RAGE is the latest game from id Software, the acclaimed designers of such classics as the Wolfenstein, DOOM, and QUAKE series. Eagerly awaited by the gaming community, RAGE is already being touted as one of the industry’s most innovative first-person shooters, winning numerous awards at E3 2010, including ‘Best Overall Game of Show’ from IGN and three ‘Best of E3’ Game Critics Awards including ‘Best Console Game’.

Set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, you emerge into a vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as bandit gangs, mutants, and more.

Bethesda Softworks Announces Prey 2

Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that Prey®2, the sequel to the popular 2006 game, is scheduled for release in 2012 and will be available for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows. First details on the game will be revealed in the May issue of PSM3.

Prey 2 is being developed by Human Head Studios, the studio that created Prey, the original, award-winning game. Prey 2 is being built on the cutting edge id tech engine from id Software.
